I think I'm getting old.

A few weeks ago we had the missionaries to dinner. Everything was good, and when they left, I looked at Josh and said, "Well, they were good kids." Then I had to question when I got old enough to say that missionaries are "good kids." Aren't they my peers?
My mom has been struggling with allergies lately that affect her skin. She gets patches of dry, irritated skin that is itchy and painful. Apparently, the way allergies affect you can change as you get older. Well, my eyes are red, irritated, itchy, dry, and swollen. It's not every day, but often. If I wear make-up, I regret it the next day. I have to pick which days to wear make-up according to who I see and how I feel around them. So, if you see me without make-up, you'll know that I feel comfortable around you and that you won't judge me for looking like a wornout, tired mom with red, swollen eyes. It makes me feel old to have skin that is so fussy. It was just a few years ago that I picked which days to wear make-up solely on whether or not I wanted to. Hopefully I can figure out what it is that irritates it and get the allergy under control.

  1. Sorry about the allergies. Things get weird as you get older. Sad but true. At the same time, things also get better. Here's to days with no makeup!!

  2. Darn allergies. I hate to see JoAnn suffering with them. It is sad that you do as well. About makeup. LOL. I rarely wear any. I just don't like to wear it that much. I hope I will be one of the people you choose to not wear makeup with. LOL
